Building on the strong tradition of rigorous, high-quality doctoral training on democracy initiated by external page NCCR Democracy, the external page Doctoral Programme Democracy Studies (DPDS) is integrated into the subject group Social Sciences under the Graduate School of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Zurich.

DPDS supports the study of diverse and multifaceted, qualitative and quantitative approaches to the phenomenon of democracy and its manifestations.

In addition to the doctoral degree conferred by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Graduate School will also award a Certificate in Democracy Studies upon completion of the DPDS curriculum.
