CIS Colloquium
The CIS Colloquium is a speakers series which takes place every Thursday from 12:30 to 13:50 during the semester. In the Spring it takes place at the ETH and in the Fall it takes place at the UZH. The target audience is all CIS participants including PhDs, Postdocs, Researchers and Professors.
The Fall 2025 programme will take place at the AFL Building, Affolternstrasse 56, Room E 003
Zurich Political Economy Seminar Series (ZPESS)
ZPESS brings together researchers in political economy and related fields from the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich.
Former and current PhD students, Post-docs and young faculty present their research and receive constructive feedback from a peer group. The seminar is open to participants from diverse backgrounds.
Date: Wednesdays during the semester
Time: 1:30-2:30 pm

ISTP Colloquium Science, Technology and Policy
During the semester, the Institute of Science, Technology and Policy regularly holds colloquia talks with presentations by invited guest speakers from academia and practice/policy. The series is open to the public. Lectures last about 30 minutes followed by a Q&A session.
Check the schedule for location and please register at least 2 hours before each session.
ECR FORUM
The ECR Forum seeks to provide guidance on various aspects of academic career development and creates opportunities for early-career researchers to discuss concerns related to “surviving” academia with faculty and invited experts. PhDs and Postdocs at CIS (UZH and ETH) are invited to attend.

Postdocs are very much welcome to join and share insights with
colleagues earlier in their journey.
In this informal meeting we will discuss why we do what we do.
Some of the possible topics for discussion:
- navigating doubts about your research path and career choices
- recognizing when existential questioning is productive vs. paralyzing
- strategies for reconnecting with your motivation and purpose
- building resilience when facing uncertainty about the impact of your work
- supporting each other through these universal challenges

As a doctorate student, you face numerous demands on your time—switching between roles as student, researcher, teacher, and more. This workshop will help you gain awareness of how you allocate your time and provide practical strategies to enhance your self- and time-management skills.
Dr. Vira Bondar co-founded and leads the EPT-hub at ETH Zurich,supporting Teaching Assistants in their teaching duties and beyond. She also leads a Time Management workshop at the ETH and is a particle physicist by profession..

Science of International Migration Seminar (SIMS)
The Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) at Stanford University and ETH Zürich is launching the Science of International Migration Seminar (SIMS), a new online series designed to bring together social scientists applying rigorous methods to the study of international migration. We hope this seminar will offer a platform to share the latest research from leading scholars and an opportunity for the global community of peers and practitioners to provide feedback.
